Access Control
Great Ormond Street Hospital is known all over the world as a centre for Child pediatrics, Aegis were responsible for the design and installation of a Site wide Access Control System to both the new patient hotel and the £80m Octav Botnar Building, the system now boasts in the region of 350 doors, using the Bewator Cotag Granta Networked Access Control System, for control from the security management office located onsite.
Door Intercom
To accommodate visitors and third party users of the nursing wards, both CCTV and Intercom system were adopted to provide users the ability to contact the numerous nurse bases that can be found on any one level, this was implemented to secure the nursing ward entrances, the access control system is combined with the digital Intercom system, allowing nursing staff the ability to qualify visitors to the wards, before allowing them access.
CCTV Surveillance
Aegis were also responsible for the installation of an in depth surveillance system to be Monitored by the security management offices, following the buildings risk assessment it was concluded that the wards and other specific areas required surveillance to deter and detect would be problem makers and thieves, due to the nature of the site, it was important to maintain an open profile to the user of the hospital, but at the same time ensure that everyone using the hospital could be secure and kept track of.
